2023 XFL Championship Arlington Renegades vs Washington Defenders

The Arlington Renegades are the XFL champions, completing one of the most improbable playoff runs in football. Just 4-6 entering the postseason and going through multiple quarterback changes throughout the season, the Renegades -- led by quarterback Luis Perez.

In a standout performance marking his sixth start for the Renegades, Luis Perez showcased his prowess with a stellar game, completing 26 of 36 passes for an impressive 288 yards and three touchdowns. This remarkable feat capped off a postseason where Perez notched six touchdown passes in just two games.

Facing the league's top defense, the Renegades dominated from the get-go, scoring on their first five possessions. Perez's two touchdown passes during this stretch propelled Arlington to a commanding 26-12 lead over D.C. Throughout the night, Perez adeptly navigated through the Defenders' defensive coordinator Gregg Williams' blitzes, enabling the Renegades to surpass 26 points for the first time this season.

Securing their spot as the league's second champion, the Renegades wrapped up the year with a 6-6 record. Despite losing their last two regular-season games and finishing 4-6, the Renegades clinched a playoff berth, narrowly edging out the 3-7 San Antonio Brahmas.

The XFL's playoff format, selecting the top two teams in each division, provided the Renegades with the opportunity to vie for a championship, making their postseason journey all the more thrilling.
